Rescuing an animal is a heroic effort and many inspiring rescue stories have made headlines. Whether rescue pets are famous for their amazing stories or their celebrity parents, many wonder where famous rescue pets ended up!

1. Mochi

In 2016, Mochi “Mo” Rickert made headlines by earning a Guinness World Record for having the Longest Tongue on a dog, measuring an impressive 7.3 inches. Adopted by Carla and Craig Rickert from a South Dakota rescue, Mochi’s extraordinary feature became a symbol of resilience, love, and the joy that rescued animals bring to their new families. Carla expressed their hope that the record would shed light on the positive impact of adopting animals in need. Sadly, Mochi passed away in 2021, but his story continues to resonate with and inspire others.

2. Daisy

In a heartwarming video shared on social media in 2020, Selena Gomez introduced her “new family member,” Daisy, to the world. At the time, Gomez expressed joy at the harmonious relationship between Daisy and her existing dog, Winnie. While currently having two dogs, it’s worth noting that in 2010, Gomez was a proud fur mom to a bustling home filled with five adopted dogs.

Opening up about her commitment to adopting rescue dogs, Gomez shared in 2010 that she chose to welcome multiple shelter dogs into her life because “there are a lot of dogs that need homes.”

3. Bluebell

The former Duchess of Cornwall, known for her compassion toward animals, adopted her beloved dogs from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London back in 2017.

The Duchess celebrated her 75th birthday in 2022, proudly showcasing her adopted pups alongside her. The pup is still living with her loving parents as of 2024.

4. Mac N Cheese

During the in memoriam segment at the 2020 Oscars, Jamie Lee Curtis paid tribute to Betty White while holding an adorable puppy. In a heartfelt moment, Curtis encouraged viewers to honor Betty White’s legacy by opening their hearts and homes to adopt a rescue dog, specifically mentioning Mac N Cheese from Paw Works.

In a heartening turn of events, the very next day, renowned actor John Travolta, along with his son Ben, answered the call and adopted Mac N Cheese.

5. Verrazano

Whoopi Goldberg and Verrazano the kitten share a heartwarming tale of love and compassion. After making his national TV debut on “The View,” Verrazano captured Goldberg’s heart, and it was love at first sight. The kitten had faced a harrowing incident, having been thrown out of a moving car on the Verrazano Bridge.

Unable to resist the bond formed during their on-screen encounter, Goldberg decided to give Verrazano a better life.

6. Maggie the Wunder Dog

The incredible survivor known as “Maggie the Wunder Dog” has inspired so many. Despite enduring a traumatic incident where she was shot and left blind, Maggie’s resilience shines through.

Thriving in the loving care of her devoted mom, Maggie’s story has captured the hearts of many. With a massive following of 569,000 people on Instagram, she became an inspiration. Unfortunately, she passed away in September of 2023.

7. Bethanee

Bethanee’s journey began when she was discovered abandoned on the side of the road on the outskirts of Portland. Bethanee’s story took an extraordinary turn when, after being taken to a shelter, she flatlined during a spaying procedure but miraculously came back to life.

Further examinations revealed a cancerous mass in her leg, leading to the decision to amputate. Bethanee not only survived the challenging surgery but thrived through it all. Her inspiring tale caught the attention of Lindsay, a graphic designer, who adopted Bethanee and took her everywhere. Lindsay started an Instagram account to document Bethanee’s recovery, and soon, the resilient French bulldog became a sensation, featured on HuffPost, Good Morning America, and Men’s Health.

8. Graham

Back in 2014, Ed Sheeran melted hearts when he introduced the world to his lovable kitten, Graham, on Twitter. Sharing the heartwarming story, Sheeran revealed that Graham, a one-month-old kitten, was on the verge of being put down, prompting the singer to step in and adopt him.

Graham, with his charming presence, briefly took the spotlight as a social media star after Ed Sheeran created a dedicated Twitter account for him. Despite no new tweets since 2014, Graham’s account has garnered over 49,000 followers. Unfortunately, in 2019 Ed Sheeran’s famous cat was hit and killed by a car.

These rescue pets have captured our hearts and inspired everyone who hears their stories. Of course, they have their five minutes of fame but it is nice to see them settled into a normal life full of love!
