Maliha, a young feline taken in by a Michigan-based rescue, has recently endured a series of heartbreaking challenges regarding her pregnancy and health. Surrendered by her previous owner, Maliha found herself pregnant and abandoned, left to fend for herself on the streets. Fortunately, a local rescue intervened, offering her a chance at a new life.

Erin Moore, from Animal House of SE MI, took Maliha under her wing, drawn by her experience with emergency veterinary care and special-needs animals. However, Maliha’s pregnancy took a tragic turn, as Moore observed concerning symptoms indicating a potential miscarriage.

My “pregnant” foster was showing signs of a terminated pregnancy last night. I had some suspicions about her pregnancy a couple days after she was dropped off to me. My suspicions were confirmed today that she had a miscarriage. Thankfully she is safe with me or this would have killed her living on the streets. She will never have to worry about another pregnancy again now. #cat #saved #pregnant #miscarriage #rescued #foster #spayandneuter

Despite Moore’s efforts and care, an X-ray confirmed the devastating news of Maliha’s miscarriage, a not uncommon occurrence in feline pregnancies. Determined to ensure Maliha’s well-being, Moore promptly arranged for her spaying and comprehensive health checks.

Tragically, the tests revealed that Maliha tested positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), adding another layer of complexity to her journey. Despite this diagnosis, Moore emphasizes that FeLV is not transmissible to humans and that affected cats can lead fulfilling lives with proper care.

Further tests are underway to determine the nature of Maliha’s FeLV strain, with potential implications for her interactions with other cats. Nonetheless, Maliha is receiving the love and attention she deserves, with hopes of finding a forever home where she can thrive. The emotional journey of Maliha was shared on TikTok, garnering significant attention and Support from viewers.
