Sora, a lively canine resident at the Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, endured almost 900 days of patient waiting for a forever home. The center, known for its commitment to the welfare of animals, provided Sora with hope despite the prolonged stay. Despite her vibrant personality and lovable demeanor, Sora struggled to catch the eye of potential adopters. Yet, the shelter staff remained convinced that Sora possesses all the qualities of an ideal companion.
“Sora is a high-energy dog who loves to play and gets super excited anytime she gets to go on walks,” shared Sim Kaur from the Valley Animal Center. “She is great on walks and hikes, making her a good traveling companion. She also loves playing with tennis balls. She is lovable with humans and has tested well with children over the age of five.”
After a considerable wait, Sora’s luck appeared to change when a prospective human showed interest in adopting her. However, the joy was short-lived as Sora found herself back at the shelter just 24 hours later, returned by her new human.

The abrupt return saddened not only Sora but also the shelter staff who had hoped she found her forever home. Kaur expressed frustration, emphasizing the need for patience and understanding when adopting shelter pets. Despite the setback, Kaur remains optimistic about Sora’s future. She believes that with the right match, Sora will thrive in a loving and dedicated home.
