Burjeel Holdings, a private healthcare services provider in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, has inaugurated a gastrointestinal and liver disease centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

This facility, named the Jazzar Gastrointestinal & Liver Disease Center, is situated at the Burjeel Day Surgery Center on Al Reem Island.

Developed to expand Burjeel’s existing complex care offerings, the facility will deliver treatments for a variety of digestive and liver conditions.

The centre is equipped to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases affecting the liver, pancreas, colon, gallbladder, oesophagus, stomach, and small intestine.

It will be led by Dr Ahmad Jazzar, who brings over two decades of experience and a track record of more than 40,000 diagnostic and interventional endoscopic procedures to the centre.

The centre’s services include a wide array of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as digital spyglass cholangioscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and endoscopic ultrasound.

These techniques are crucial for the management of complex conditions like bile duct stones and strictures.

Patients can avail of transoral incisionless fundoplication treatments for gastroesophageal reflux disease and heartburn, as well as endoscopic submucosal dissection, video capsule endoscopy and esophageal manometry for assessing oesophageal contractions and swallowing issues.

Additionally, the centre offers coordinated services for weight management and the Hydrogen Breath Test for diagnosing food intolerances.

The team of experts at the new centre also includes Drs Mazn Karmo, Tarek Fathi Nasser and Huda Kataa, all of whom are gastroenterology consultants, along with Dr Krish Venkatesh, a paediatric gastroenterology consultant.

Dr Jazzar said: “Our experienced medical professionals employ a multidisciplinary approach for diagnosis and offer comprehensive solutions. The clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic tools to assess and address the identified issues.”

The addition of the Jazzar Gastrointestinal & Liver Disease Center to Burjeel Holdings’ network marks a significant expansion of its complex care offerings, which already encompass specialities such as orthopaedics, foetal medicine, advanced gynaecology, and head and neck disorders.

In July last year, Burjeel received a contract to operate and manage ADNOC’s Al Dhannah Hospital in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region.
