Home » Comment on Tiny Off-Grid Cabin in Maine is Completely Self-Sustaining by grhudson

This is an attractive design. But it\’s time for Inhabitat and other publications to address the elephant in the room. This is not a home. It is a retreat: a second home. Therefore it can\’t honestly be called sustainable. No number of green features can compensate for the consumption of resources for second homes along coastlines and other formerly wild locations. Camping is green. Hotel rooms, actually, are green. Second homes—retreats, getaways, lake houses—just aren\’t.
