A viral video captured a remarkable moment of canine emotion, as Kong, the cane corso dog, mourns the loss of his beloved sibling and watches over her puppies. With over 62,000 views to date, this video provides a touching glimpse into the emotional world of dogs.
The creator of this endearing video goes by the name Kee on TikTok. In the video, Kong can be seen snuggling up to the litter of puppies born to his late sister, Nirvana. Kee’s caption on the post reveals the depth of Kong’s sorrow, stating, “Kong’s really struggling with the loss too.”
What makes this video particularly remarkable is the sight of the dog entering a puppy pen and nurturing a litter of puppies. Kee points out in her caption that this behavior is uncommon among male dogs.
@kees_cane_corsos Kong our male has been with nirvana from birth..He came over from romania with nirvana from same breeder and they have been inseparable ever since. Since she died kongs not been the same dog. Nirvana’s tragic passing was the result of a condition known as gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), commonly referred to as “bloat.” According to the Veterinary Medical Center of Central New York, GDV is a severe and often fatal condition that occurs when a dog’s stomach fills with gas, food, or fluid and subsequently twists. It is a condition that requires immediate medical attention, and sadly, Nirvana succumbed to it less than two weeks after giving birth to five healthy puppies.
Kong’s profound connection with Nirvana is evident in Kee’s words as she describes their inseparable bond. Kong had been by Nirvana’s side since birth, having come from the same breeder in Romania. The loss of Nirvana has left a void in Kong’s life, and his actions speak volumes about the depth of his grief. Kee shared her experience, stating, “Since she died, Kong’s not been the same dog. This morning I came downstairs to find him with her babies.”
The heartwarming video, originally shared on TikTok by @Kees_Cane_Corsos on September 14, has received an outpouring of Support from viewers. With over 1,800 likes and more than 90 comments, it is clear that Kong’s touching display of love and sorrow has resonated deeply with the online community.
