Friday Flick: CONTINUUM – Mountain Life – GWC Mag

In today’s Friday Flick, six athletes take upcycled tents—made from 137 jackets otherwise destined for the landfill—on a ski/snowboard journey showcasing both high-level shredding and what’s possible for remade goods in the outdoors and beyond.

Don’t you wish your old jackets could be given this second life in the mountains?

The 25-minute film features Arc’teryx athletes Robin Van Gyn, Michelle Parker, Lucy
Sackbauer, Elena Hight, Tatum Monod and Spencer O’Brien.

CONTINUUM invites viewers to ponder a unique question: if our jackets could speak, what stories would they tell? The second lives of these old shells may be even more epic than their first, as the athletes put the repurposed shelters through their paces in the unforgiving high-altitude elements in Tahoe, CA, Whistler and Bella Coola, BC, Baker, WA, Haines, AK and the Alaska Range.

Serving as both protection and a gathering place, these shelters become symbols of connection and unity among like-minded mountain enthusiasts looking to blaze new pathways to sustainability.

What sets CONTINUUM apart is its all-female cast—a choice made not for tokenism but due to the raw talent and deep sense of community among these athletes. In a departure from the days of one token female in ski or snowboarding edits, the film underlines the fact that gender was never a factor in the athletes’ collaboration.

Instead, they simply endeavored to create a film with the people they love to ride with, resulting in a crew of female athletes bonded through their passion for the mountains.

At its core, CONTINUUM celebrates outdoor sport, unity, sustainability and true grit.
