When an Akita puppy named Haku first came to his new home, he was unsure about the unfamiliar environment. The nervous puppy had a hard time settling in. A video posted to the TikTok account @pickyprince.haku shows his heartbreaking first night. @pickyprince.haku now looking back at this video it breaks my heart even more😭 puppies leave their mom and siblings behind and I believe that’s not easy for every puppy .. some are more “extroverted” than others I guess and can adjust faster to their new home (like kyuubi who was chilling right next to him or all these puppies I see on social media) but Haku was really anxious and looked so sad and scared the first night😭😭 please give your puppies time to adjust to their new family and be patient especially when they aren’t “happy” and “playful” at the beginning🧡 ♬ what was I made for? – Instrumental – Wheeler In the video, the nervous pup can be seen sitting in a corner. Despite being tired, he tries to remain awake. He remains sitting upright, although his head is nodding and his eyes are drifting closed. Text overlay on the video explains that “he was just too scared to fall asleep in an unfamiliar environment”. Although the nervous puppy did eventually settle in, his human hopes that the video will remind new pup parents that the transition to a new home can be rough for young canines. They are entering an unfamiliar environment without their mother or siblings. It can take days, weeks, or even months for dogs to adjust to their new home. In the meantime, providing positive experiences and companionship can help make the transition more enjoyable for the puppy. We encourage everyone thinking of getting a pet to adopt instead of shop.
