Understaffing and triage delays that led patients to give up waiting and discharge themselves have been identified as problems at some maternity services run by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) lowered previous overall ratings of βgoodβ on two of three maternity services run by the trustβLeicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital12βto βrequires improvementβ after carrying out inspections in February and March. It issued a warning notice for the trust to focus its attention on rapid improvements in managing these maternity services.
