Our Fave Eco-Friendly Bathroom Cleaners! – GWC Mag

The choices we make in our everyday cleaning products can have a significant impact on our planet. From harsh chemicals to excessive packaging, traditional bathroom cleaners can be both harmful and wasteful. Luckily, there are plenty of sustainable options out there so we can protect our health and the planet!

Highly recommend this cleaner!”

2. Mrs. Myer’s

Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Cleaner

Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Cleaner is lavender-scented and cruelty-free! It costs $14.22 for a pack of three.

Karen said, “Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day is great. I was told about this from a client who can’t be exposed to harsh chemicals because of chemo treatments. She had many different scents but I tried the lavender. It is not overpowering, it is a fresh flowering scent. This cleans everything, and I do mean everything. It makes wood shine and my tile floors have never looked so good. It cleans glass and I even use it in the kitchen on the counters and stove. I can’t say enough about it. I also bought the concentrate. I will use nothing else from now on.”

3. Biokleen

Biokleen Bac-Out Natural Bathroom Cleaner

Biokleen Bac-Out Natural Bathroom Cleaner is lavender lime-scented and eco-friendly. It costs $20.98 for a two-pack.

Elizabeth said, “I have used it for years. Wonderful product!”

4. ECOS

ECOS Bathroom Cleaner

ECOS Bathroom Cleaner is all-purpose and eliminates soap scum. The two-pack costs $7.96.

Carrie said, “I love the smell of this product! My daughter gets migraines from certain smells but not with this one! It cleans surfaces very nicely, the shower doors are even clear now! I sprayed them, let it sit for a good minute, then used a rag to clean them off. This cleaner works great! The bottles spray correctly, they haven’t leaked, even when I dropped one on the floor! This cleaner is a wonderful product and I will continue to use this brand. Not as expensive as other brands that don’t work as well.”

5. Seventh Generation

Seventh Generation Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Seventh Generation Toilet Bowl Cleaner is mint-scented, free from chlorine and bleach, and 94% plant-based. The four-pack costs $15.96.

Anthony said, “Easy to use and smells great. Actually has a second use also, the tub. This cuts through soap scum way better than the best sprays, even the foaming sprays. If you have a detachable shower head just wet everything with very hot water, use the toilet bowl cleaner, and let sit for 10 minutes. Grab a scrub brush and then rinse off all cleaner. You’re all set! I did use too much once and the smell was a bit overwhelming. Enjoy!”

6. Lazy Coconuts

Lazy Coconuts Toilet Bowl Cleaner Strips

Lazy Coconuts Toilet Bowl Cleaner Strips are plastic-free, septic-safe, and eco-friendly. The pack of 60 costs $14.95.

Yurie said, “I was quite impressed with this product. I’ve bullet-pointed the reasons:
1. The pack comes packed with sheets.
2. The smell is pleasant but I can see how some people have described it as strong; didn’t bother me.
3. Easy to use: literally pop it in, watch it dissolve, and clean your toilet bowl.
4. It’s sudsy! I was worried since the sheet dissolved without foam but once you start scrubbing, it foams very nicely.
5. It actually cleans!”

7. Eco Solve

Eco Solve Toilet Bowl Cleaner Strips

Eco Solve Toilet Bowl Cleaner Strips are non-toxic, septic safe, and eco-friendly. For 60 strips it costs $14.99.

Katherine said, “This is a great swap to make instead of using normal toilet bowl cleaners that come in plastic bottles. Toss one in the toilet and scrub. It doesn’t dissolve until you start scrubbing, but it dissolves completely and makes some very sudsy (and nice-smelling) water! Definitely gets the job done. Make the swap!”

8. Better Life

Better Life Bathroom Cleaner

Better Life Bathroom Cleaner is bathroom-brightening and works on your tiles and tub! The two-pack costs $13.97.

David said, “This worked great on my plastic shower. Decided to try on my nasty utility sink used to clean from greasy hands to whatever would not clean inside the house. This took a bit more effort than my shower. Used a foam scrub pad and generic magic erase but came clean when nothing else worked. The smell was a bit strong but not that bad and did not feel needed a mask. Definitely would buy it again. I tend to use a decent amount bc is a foaming sprayer but 2 bottles for price was very reasonable. At this time was $13.99. A few drops did leak during shipping. Should add those tape bands places use. Was very very minor.”

9. Seventh Generation

Seventh Generation Lemongrass Multi-Surface Cleaner

Seventh Generation Lemongrass Multi-Surface Cleaner kills 99.9% of bacteria and is eco-friendly. It costs $18.90 for a set of 3.

Marilyn said, “I love the fresh smell and that it is not harmful to people and pets. Ants hate it and it seems to kill them.”

10. Blueland

Blueland Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Blueland Toilet Bowl Cleaner is eco-friendly, plastic-free, and has no harsh chemicals. It costs $28.99 for 14 tablets.

Leigha said, “These aren’t the cheapest toilet cleaning products out there, but nothing good comes cheap, right? If you’re looking for a more natural product with less plastic waste and one that works, these fit the bill.

Yes, these tabs require some extra manual labor. Which toilet cleaner doesn’t? It amazes me how lazy people are becoming; we want everything to be done with a click of a button. Just saying. Let’s be realistic.

These tabs foam up nicely and self-clean about one-third to half of the bowl. But a quick 30-second scrub with a brush will do the trick to clean the rest. Viola! Squeaky clean bowl. Also, the lemon cedar smell is fantastic! I like to toss one in the bowl and let it sit for an hour or so. It makes the bathroom smell really nice. I will buy these again.”
