A four-month-old puppy was rescued by animal law enforcement in Pennsylvania after a report was made on the dog’s condition. The rescued puppy, named Duke, was observed to be experiencing difficulty walking and had a twisted neck. A search warrant was obtained and the property was searched on September 15. The young puppy was found with a medical choke chain and experiencing ongoing effects after allegedly being kicked by a child in the home. Duke had not received medical help after the incident.

The rescued puppy was removed from the property and is being carefully monitored by veterinary professionals. Duke is experiencing persistent effects from the abuse. He had a head tilt that may be permanent. Additionally, he drifts to the right when walking and sometimes stumbles as he moves. At this time, it is unclear if these effects are permanent.

Although Duke is not yet available for adoption, he has received an outpouring of Support after his story was shared on Facebook. For now, the pup is recuperating at a rescue located in Philadelphia. Hopefully, he will soon be able to enter a foster home where he can begin to experience the family life he deserves. Staff members at the rescue describe Duke as sweet and loving despite what he has been through.
