Tested: Outdoor Research Women’s Coze Down Parka – GWC Mag

We love winter, and not just for the shredding. We love winter for the low-key walks in town, on the rail trail, or in a park, focusing on the snowbound silence and the deep thinking that comes with it.

We also love winter when we can stand outside for an hour watching our kids tobogganing—and stay warm. At times like this, a long parka, insulated with down, burns the brightest.

Indeed, the women’s Coze Down Parka from Outdoor Research is nothing less than a portable woodstove stoked to the perfect temperature and sealed tightly.

It features RDS-certified down and bluesign-approved, recycled materials to create a full-length puffy that delivers ultimate cold-weather comfort. The 700+ fill-power down insulates in the coldest conditions like only down can, while the recycled nylon shell blocks wind and moisture.

The adjustable hood features a baffle ruff to keep out the elements, and the front collar is lined with a brushed tricot at the chin for added warmth and comfort. The Coze Down Parka also features an internal storm flap and two-way centre front zip, plus two hand pockets (also lined with brushed tricot) and an internal chest pocket to keep your essentials close by.

Did you know? Over 37 kg of textile waste per person ends up in landfills globally each year. By choosing garments made with recycled materials, consumers can make an immediate and meaningful difference.

We also like the internal wrist gaiters with thumb loops, and the two side vents that provide a quick venting option that’s simple to deploy. The parka’s well-designed baffle system keeps cold air from flowing upward, so you don’t need an internal drawcord. So get ready for long walks in the coldest weather winter can muster.

You won’t find a more sustainable parka anywhere. Obviously RDS-certified down is the most sustainable and non-polluting insulation. Plus: the shell and lining are bluesign® approved 100% recycled plainweave nylon.
