As sites like Amazon Fresh, Freecycle, Grubhub and others continue to boom – with or without a worldwide pandemic! – it’s a pretty good idea to have your house numbers clearly visible. Without them, deliveries are much more challenging for the drivers as they may wind up wandering up and down your street looking for your place – especially at night.

With that in mind, solar house numbers are a great, low-budget product to consider investing in to keep those numbers visible without adding to your impact on the environment or dumping more cash into the grid.

Reviews of the Best Solar House Numbers and Address Plaques

The LeiDrail House Numbers Solar Powered Address Sign is our top pick for attractive, effective, and simple to install solar house number signs. There are loads of reasons we love it, including and especially the amorphous panel, which makes it the most useful option for folks without a lot of direct sunlight locations.

  • Size: 12.4 x 6.9 x 2.5 inch
  • Modes: Auto, Manual
  • Material made of: Metal plaque, PVC
  • Number of lights: 6

What We Loved

We love that this one uses an amorphous solar panel, meaning it works in both direct and indirect sunlight, even under the eaves. This is a huge thing for us, as many folks just don’t have great direct sunlight locations to keep their solar lighted house number.

We also love the modern, attractive look for this sign. The metal frame with a white PVC board gives a durable, attractive look for your house numbers – which are a large 4-inches in height.

The lights stay light for 8-10 hours when fully charged after only 6 hours of daylight. The sign also uses the latest energy management chip with 12 lumens to keep things bright and efficient, even without that direct sunlight.

What We Didn’t Love

The only real negative we could find on this one is that some folks living in places like Arizona or New Mexico found the heat and direct sunlight too intensive for this backlit house numbers solar sign. So, if you live someplace where sunlight is overwhelming, you’re probably going to have to find a different one.

Our Verdict

This is our best choice for solar LED house numbers, thanks to the size, the quality of manufacture, the brightness of the LEDs, the overall ratings from many users, and, of course, that attractive modern look.

But what really makes it a winner is that it can be used in environments that don’t get tons of direct sunlight all the time. The only drawback is that this isn’t great for incredibly hot environments with gut-melting direct sunlight.

sungath solar house number

For folks who have either an apartment on the ground floor that they want to illuminate the numbers on or for folks with long driveways, the Sungath Lighted House Address Number Sign is a great option. The sign is designed for use on a spike, so as long as you’ve got some dirt to plant it in – read yard or planter on the patio) – you can get that house number illuminated anywhere in the yard. This is also a great option for folks who need to find an unshaded spot for placing the number.

  • Size: 35-inches tall
  • Modes: Auto with smart control, warm white or cool white light
  • Material made of: aluminum alloy and ABS material
  • Number of lights: 21 cool, 21 warm

What We Loved

We absolutely love this light for just about any situation where a spiked sign is going to be the most effective. It’s bright, it’s effective, and it’s long-lasting.

We love the smart control light mode in particular – with it’s 6 hours of bright light that kicks in when dusk hits and that the last 4 hours of less than half the brightness. Most of us don’t need super bright lights all night, so this is perfect for saving energy or preventing brightness from keeping us awake at night.

We also love that you can easily adjust and rotate the solar panel to best hit that direct sun, whatever time of year it is.

This lighted house sign also has two great lighting modes, warm or cool, depending on what best suits your needs.

Finally, we love house easy it is to install. Spike it in, place the solar panel – and boom. You’re done.

What We Didn’t Love

The only real drawback we see on this one is that it simply isn’t suited for really hot or intensive sun climates. Though negative reviews are few, we did see some folks living in places like Arizona saying it simply can’t handle the heat.

Our Verdict

This is the perfect option for less-intense heat locations for anyone looking to stake their house number in the yard. The materials are durable, the lights bright (either warm or cool light), and the sign can stay lit up to 2 days consecutively. It’s an all-around winner.

  • Size: 9.45 x 9.45 x 2 inches
  • Modes: 3 – bright light, dim light, sensor light
  • Material made of: plastic housing
  • Number of lights: 45

What We Loved

This fantastic option is easy to mount wherever you want it to go, be it on the wall, door, fence, or garage – so it works for just about any setup needed.

We also love how easy it is to install. You simply place nails or screws and hang. Done and done.

The three modes are fantastic – whether you need bright or dim light or prefer to set it to automatically light up when it sense motion.

What We Didn’t Love

There are only two negatives we can find for this one.

First, it’s not suitable for very hot climates or intensive sun situations. It simply can’t handle that much direct sunlight.

Second, because of the sensor, it may not always light up when you need it to – or if you live in a very active neighborhood at night, it might turn on and off an at annoying rate. We would recommend avoid placing it near any windows where the on/off feature will be visible inside the house.

Our Verdict

This is a great little option for anyone wanting a versatile solar house numbers light. It mounts just about anywhere, is easy to install, offers three different lighting modes – bright, dim, and motion sensor – and is highly weatherproof. Like the others, it does have issues with extreme heat or intense direct sunlight. So, if you can place it well, this should keep things lit up well for deliveries and emergency vehicles whenever you might need it.

Benefits of Solar House Numbers

There are a number of reasons solar house numbers are pretty great.

We’ve already mentioned a big one in the intro: delivery drivers can find your house easier at night or in the daytime. The light that they produce makes your house easy to find after dark sets in, making it easier for drivers of all kinds to find your house. And whether you’re having emergency meal delivered or an emergency vehicle arriving with care personnel, the lamination is vital for being found in time.

Another great thing about them is that they’ve been carefully crafted to add attractive decoration to your home, as well. You can find a variety of styles that match your taste, whether you love sleek and modern or have hankering for that old-time feel.

The fact that they’re solar is a huge benefit. You can light up the house numbers without having to spend a penny on electricity to keep them powered. So, even in a power out, your house can still be found and you don’t need to invest a cent past installation.

Of course, that means that you’re using clean, renewable energy and aren’t furthering your impact on the planet. As this year has unfolded, we’ve seen more and more need for our impact to be decreased.

Finally, solar house numbers are super convenient. You set them up and then you’re done. No maintenance, no extra costs, and you rarely even have to change the batteries.
