2023 shattered global temperature records, as climate change coupled with El Niño raised temperatures to sweltering levels. This new marker of global warming drove devastating extreme weather disasters across the planet, from heatwaves to floods to wildfires to droughts. But now climate scientists are predicting 2024 could be even hotter, potentially even 1.5°C of warming for the first time.
