Returning to our screens on Saturday was the much-anticipated season 2 of Renovate or Rebuild. This season promises to be bigger and better and episode 1 definitely brought us the goods. Episode 1 took us to Stafford Heights in northern Brisbane where the homeowner, Lisa, was looking for a refreshing of her mid-century Queenslander.

Jimmy and Tam, returning from season 1, were pitted against each other. Jimmy was team Rebuild and Tam was team Renovate. Did the homeowner choose to start from scratch and rebuild or did she opt to revitalise her existing home and renovate? Read on to find out!

Lovable mid-century modern Queenslander

Sitting atop a huge block of land in Stafford Heights was the run-down home of Lisa. This home belonged to her grandmother and Lisa loves the charm that exudes from the one-bathroom home. Beneath the chipped paint and the worn-down finishes is a home with character and a story. Lisa’s eclectic styling throws back to a bygone era that she absolutely loves and wishes to hold on to.

James Treble, host of the show and designer-extraordinaire, caught up with Lisa to discuss her desires for the home. She is looking for changes that will improve the efficiency of the home, including ceiling fans for the Queensland weather, and the addition of a pool. With a budget of $400k, Lisa is well aware of the limitations she is facing.

Naked Pools and Fanco Australia

Jimmy met up with Naked Pools, a company offering freshwater pools. Freshwater pools not only offer less maintenance for the homeowner but also deliver water with fewer chemicals. The water is treated with copper and silver which is better for the skin and the environment.

Architect Paul Butterworth discussed the ceiling fans on offer from Fanco Australia. With Aussies looking for better and more efficient options, Fanco has a range of stylish ceiling fans to suit any decor and space.

Aesthetically pleasing and powerful solar panels: LONGI Hi-MO X6

Roshan, the CEO of Energy Matters, caught up with James Treble at his newly renovated home in Umina, New South Wales. This mid-century home was transformed from drab to fab with white-on-white interiors and exteriors. The addition of punches of colour turns this house into a cozy home.

Installed across three faces of the roof are 10.5kW of LONGi solar panels. These panels are LONGi’s latest Hi-MO X6 PERC solar panels. The PERC technology increases the efficiency of the panels by allowing additional light to be captured via a reflective layer.

The Hi-MO X6 panels were not only chosen for their exceptional performance but also for their elegant street appeal. The all-black panels are a sight to be seen and add to the aesthetic of the home. LONGi is known for their outstanding quality and efficiency as well as their affordability. Roshan discussed the panels with Andres Novoa, the Senior Marketing Manager of LONGi Solar Australia, in the video below.

Did the homeowner renovate or rebuild?

After the presentation of the plans for renovating or rebuilding, delivered via Lifesize Plans in Brisbane, Lisa chose to renovate! Renovating will allow Lisa to stay within her budget whilst retaining much of the charm that attracted her to the home in the first place. The renovated home will feature a plunge pool and refurbish her much-loved kitchen.

Tune into the next episode of Renovate or Rebuild next Saturday to see the results of her renovated home. You can watch Renovate or Rebuild Saturdays on Channel 9 at 3:30pm. Catch up with reruns throughout the week on channel 9Life or via 9Now.
