A North Carolina foster dog named Bambi was deteriorating in the shelter after volunteers could no longer come in to assist with the animals due to a canine influenza outbreak. To help her, a shelter staff member took her in as a foster dog.

A video posted to the TikTok account @twogingerpibbles shows the moment that the foster dog finally settled into her new foster home. In the video, Bambi can be seen lying down on a blanket in her new home. The text overlay on the video reads, “Picking up your newest foster dog from the shelter and watching them realize they’re finally safe”.

Foster homes can be very helpful for nervous dogs. They can help them decompress and acclimate to being in a home. Shelter environments can be very stressful for some dogs, who can struggle to deal with the crowded and loud environment.

The video melted hearts on TikTok. Viewers liked the sweet video over 258,000 times. One commenter wrote, “Actually crying. Such a sweet baby who deserves all the love.”
